I was contacted by and reported a scammer once before so when "Julya" contacted me I played along to gather info. The scammer answered my ad on "Red Personals" and began expressing love for me right away. I played along to get more info and pictures. Soon the scammer was giving me that line about going to a travel agency to arrange a visa to visit America. Of course I know that such Visa's are not possible and I informed my scammer of the proper way of obtaining a Fiancee visa. This was ignored and suddenly the scammer is an expert on Western Union. When I didn't send money the letters stopped.

Today in the morning as soon as I have woken up, had time only to wash and to have breakfast, I went to travel agency. I have addressed to the manager of this travel agency, has asked about moving to your country, To me have explained, that I should at first receive the visa, foreign passport and some other documents for registration. Together with the manager we have determined a type of the visa, this type of the visa allows to marry in the future. I believe, that to us enough time will learn each other, that in a consequence to marry. If we shall get married during validity of the visa, I can remain with you on the greater time. There are some types of the visa, but for me is necessary B-2 temporary visitors visa, I can not receive another. Its action will be within 90 days or 3 months, at us will be a lot of time to be together, How you on it think? Hello, My name is Fred and I have a profile on Match.com. I was contacted by a woman on Match.com and her profile indicated she was in Minnesota. I replied to her, she told me she really lives in Russia, and asked me to contact her at a Yahoo address. I began an e-mail correspondence and became suspicious, of course, about how a woman could supposedly fall for me that quickly. I have not sent her any money. I decided to a little internet research and found this website. I have included the text from the letters I have received in the hopes it may enlighten other readers. It appears that this same woman, if she really is a woman, has also used the name Elena Mecheriakova (see 7/3/05 update). Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And never send money.

First letter 8/10/05:
Hello, How are you? I am sorry if I didn't respond to you at once but you see I have no computer at home and I have to go to the Internet cafe which is located not far from my home. It is pretty warm here today, it is about 20 centigrades above zero and what about your place? Is it warm or cold there? Hello my dear. How are you today? How is your week? I am very glad to see your email. And would like to see as many pictures of yours as possible, because its very interesting for me and I would like to get to know you better. Your reply made my day. I am happy to read your emails. I think we have a lot of common and I like it very much. I think we are becoming more closer to each other. I've chosen your profile because I like you very much, when I read your profile I think you are very interesting person. And I have a feeling I was always looking for you. Recently we celebrated my friend's birthday and I felt so sad because her boyfriend was with her. They were kissing and hugging each other. She got a great bouquet of flowers...I hope that my birthday will also celebrate with my beloved who can be my one and forever. Could it be you? By the way I have something more to tell you about me. I didnt tell you that I like travelling. I have been in Moscow a few years ago with my friends. Also I have been in St.Petersburg. It was wonderful to go sightseeing and very interesting. Hello my sweetheart, Today is warm and but cloudy and it is raining and I am in a romantic mood. I wish I could share it with you but unfortunately you are far away from me now. Last night I couldn't sleep. Iwas thinking about you and about me. There were so many thoughts running through my head and you know what? I think if two liking each other persons are kept apart by the distance their relationship can be compicated. Compicated but not impossible. We don't live in different planets and I think if we wish we can be together. I have never been in such situation before because this is an Internet we have never seen each other face to face, but I hope we shll meet each other and probably very soon . Elana, I am so glad I found your site and that you provide the "Black List" as a public service! It (you) certainly solved the difficult emotional dilemma I found myself in when this "person" tried her scam on me. I knew there was the possibility of getting scammed but this woman seemed so legitimate. I think I just may have sent her the $360 she was asking for! I had not yet decided if I wanted to send her the money but just to be "safe" before decided and I replied to her I thought it would be wise to see if I could find information on such scams and that's how I found your site. Sure enough I found her pictures and letters (that were almost identical to those I received) on your Black List. I am a divorced father of two young boys living in Southern California. I just started the Internet singles/dating this past spring after being divorced and lonely for 5 years. I had signed up for Yahoo! Personals and another site known as "Mate 1". Yahoo! tends to be mostly women from the USA while Mate 1 tends to have people from all over the world as "members". I had corresponded with a few women from Eastern Europe through Mate 1 but one day I got an unsolicited message in my Yahoo! Personals email box from a woman who introduced herself as Olesya (see first letter posted below) with the Yahoo! user name ushko586. That was on July 31st. In this message she explains how she cannot reply via Yahoo! Personals so she asks me to respond to this email address: Olesya33aktan@yandex.ru. So I reply and she writes me back from an email address identified as "Grisha Kolya 1" Olesya33aktan@yandex.ru. This long email message included a picture of "herself" which was of course very attractive. From there I was enchanted and we corresponded for about a month. Over the course of about 7 letters we corresponded about many things and she shared much information about herself and her family which made her seem very legitimate. She would respond to things I said but I did notice that she repeated herself from letter to letter once or twice. She asked about my kids and even gave me her physical address. She did however "advise" me not to send anything valuable to her via the mail or FEDEX because of the "dishonest" people in Russia's postal system!. She also asked me for my physical address and phone number "just in case of emergency". I now regret giving her that information for fear of how it may be used for identity theft! She used the same "scam" I see that she had done to other men explaining how she has her father go to the US Embassy in Moscow to learn what she has to do to come to "be with me". Then she gives the "good news" (that she can get a visa and what it costs) and the "bad news" that she cannot afford the cost and asked me for the money. As I look back three other things stand out. One, she almost aways sent a picture and they were all very nicely done. I wondered how she had taken so many of them and gotten them in digital format if she does not have the money for a computer at home. Second, almost all of her emails had the same subject line "Howdy from Olesya!!!" except the last one which was "I Love You!!! XOXOXO!!!" and that's the one where she asked for the money. Third, I thought it was strange that she only asked for $360.00. She asked for "dollars" too and there was no mention of the need for airfare! Anyway, so that's my story. After seeing how many other men have reported her, I wanted to make sure I shared these details so maybe others will be lucky like me and find out about this evil person before they fall victim to her greedy scam.
