I am a single, white American male, 44, living in a large Midwestern city.
I contacted this 33 year old, single woman, after joining the Absolute
Agency dating service, in January 2001. We began a steady correspondence by
email and spoke on the phone several times. After a couple of months we
began to make plans for her to visit the US. After getting to know and
trust her over a three month period of time, I sent her a total of $1,300.00
for travel and visa expenses. After I sent her the final portion of these
travel monies, I did not hear from her again for over five weeks. I finally
did hear back from her again and she told me that she had been out of town
taking care of her sick grandmother, who had died, and that she had to spend
$500.00 of the travel money I had sent to her, on medicine for her grandmother. We spent another
month, emailing back and forth, after which I offered to replace the $500.00
she had had to spend on her grandmother, so that she could finally make the
trip to the US. Once she received this money from me, she never wrote me
again. However, I did soon after, see her same picture and description,
posted with the Absolute Agency, under the name "Kit".
I sent her money a total of four times, by Western Union, using her full
name.
The Absolute Agency totally ignored my first letter, informing them of this
scammer, (see letter below), and when I sent them a follow-up letter, they
blew me off completely.

I have been robbed by one of your clients. Beginning in January of this
year I began writing to a lady who called herself Alya. Her profile, since
deleted from your records, was: A592629. She lives in Yoshkar -Ola, Russia,
and the address she gave me is: Russia, Mari El, Yoshkar-Ola, Stroiteley
19-20, Alya Akpaeva Alevtina. After having sent her a final $500 out of a total of nearly $2000 for travel
expenses, I have not heard anything back from her for 2 weeks now. However,
I see that you now have a new profile listing, for Kit A875179, which includes a picture of this same woman "Alya", who I have
been writing to for the past 5 months. And the description she gives of herself
is the same as that which was given in the January profile for Alya A592629.
I hope that you are running a lawful service and that my very bad experience is
an exception. I would hope too, that you will immediately remove this profile
for Kit A875179, before she steals from anyone else. And I hope that you will
contact this person and let her know that you are aware of her illegal actions.
Lastly, I would ask that, if possible, you will bring legal action against her. I
will cooperate with you in this matter in any way possible, which would
include, if you wish, sending you all of the pictures she has sent me so that you
can see how many other profiles she has listed with your agency. In addition, I
can send you copies of all letters I have received from her. Again, I do hope that you are running a legitimate service and that
you will take my charges seriously. I expect to hear back from you soon,

who was definitely not a scammer, but she was and has been reluctant to
leave her country. So now I'm looking for someone else. One possible scammer I'd like to bring to your attention is a woman
called Anjela, in Kherson, Ukraine. Like many others, I met her through
Absolute. I contacted her in early July, and she responded to me quickly on
July 7. For the sake of brevity, I won't put the whole correspondence here,
though I am including her photos and her email: anjelappp@gmx.net. She
describes herself as:
"my growth is 171cm. My weight is 54kg. I have blue eyes and blond hair.
My bust: 89 cm, waist: 58 cm, hips: 87 cm (if you intrested it). I have some
my photos scanned. But I think, that for you are important not my external
data, and what I inside. I was born on July 17, 1979 in beautiful city
Kherson, where I live now."
The first two letters were fine, but by the third one she was asking for money. Here is her request:
Hi, honey. I was very glad when has received your letter. Thank you that
you has written to me so much. I'm very happy that you have liked me. Forgive me,
but I can not write much in this letter. Now we have summer, in the street
it is very heat and is wet also to me hardly to visit Internet-cafe. Besides

I hope soon I shall receive the salary and I can write for you more. I very
much want to write you and to know you better, but I so afraid that you will
not want to wait while I can write letter for you. My boss promises to pay my
salary in 19 days, but will you wait me, honey? I hope that you will wait
litte! Our acquaintance is so unusual and wonderfully for me and I do not want that
we parted because I have problems with Internet. Please, write me! I shall wait for your letter.

I am savvy enough not to send money. Instead, I simply stopped writing here. By the way, I believe I asked her in the previous letter for
her address, but she simply ignored my request. I find this site to be invaluable, for despite my experiences, I'm
a bit naive in corresponding. Most of the Russians I met while in the country were quite nice to me once I got to know them, so I don't expect to
run into many scammers.

internet and letter translation, they cannot all be bad? Those that offer
credit card services MUST be more reliable or are they? Any people out there had dealings with
ukrainiantours.com ? I KNOW about the INNA case on that site, Im not sure she uses them, as she asked me
for a snail letter and never heard from her again, BUT I am writing to a lady there, though she has NEVER
asked for money, only help with translations .... If anyone has had problems or knows of any with that one

I am a 35 year old single father of two
and I live in Alaska. I received, on 29 June 2001, a contact via the
Match.com meeting site. As with the rest of us, I thought it was
fantastic. I responded to the initial letter. The sender
claimed to be an "Ekaterina Ershova" in Magadan, Russia and
her email is/was Ekater_x2000@hotbox.ru.
The initial letter claims she was using a translation program @ an
internet cafe (sounds familiar) and has training as an economist, but
works as a cook in a restaurant (ring any bells, gents?), lives with
her father Vasily (a boiler serviceman) and her mother Tatyana( a
school teacher) (I did find a Tatyana Ershova via internet searches,
who is and educator on several councils in Russia, but not in Magadan),
is Orthodox Christian, and she doesn't smoke (except in one picture,
she is astride a horse and holding a cigarette!). She mentions
her loyal sheepdog Tuzik, who protected her from an attack (Rin-Tin-Tin
and Lassie combined, I presume) and the men in Russia who are all
drunks and smoke and want to drag women into bed. After several
letters (never on the weekends, and usually a day's response lag time,
also word for word from letters on this site) "she" began
professsing deep love and writing poetry (I found in a letter
that one of us have posted on this site). I responded in kind,
and questioning about Magadan (which is actually my hometown's
"sister city", so I have a fair amount of information to
draw on) and not getting matching responses to sites and streets, the
warning alarms began going off. Her letters also never used my
first name, and I do know that even in Cyrillic text, there are
corresponding letters. For approximately 2 weeks this proceeded,
exchanging letters and photos (her's were always of better quality
than mine, how odd, especially in the Rodina (motherland))and then the
pitch came. "Ekaterina" claimed that it would be $ 240.00USD
for a B-2 Tourist Visa and that her uncle (who "happens" to
work at an airport) could get her a discount fare. She also said
that we must hurry to be together and this was so little money to an
American! I replied, explaining that I have a friend at work,
who married a a young lady from St. Petersburg and through the
families, I can make all of the arrangements. I also advised her
that I would cash in a couple of investments and send her ticket and
"visa" through contacts in Magadan, upon receipt of her
scanned passport information (of course, I never received that) .
Finally, I advised her to be patient, as my portfolio is rather
diversified, and to sell the investments too early would cause a
severe penalty, so it would be about 2 months to complete all of the
necessary arrangements. I have not received a response since (that was
on 15 July 2001). I sent one final letter advising her that, I
found a site, with "her" letters on it, word for word, she
is a scam artist, and I would contact Match.com so they could try and
screen their members better. Additionally, I would contact the
American Consulate to advise them that anyone using my name, address,
or other pertinent information is attempting by fraudulent purposes,
to possibly enter the United States to conduct criminal activity.
I also "her" advised that a contact I made in the military
(I am a Reserve Officer) who will contact the FSB and attempt to track
said persons. As you may know, the FSB is comprised of a great
deal of former Spetsnaz (Russian Special Forces) and rather loyal to
their country and take a dim view of criminal activity. A word of
advice, even though I was not scammed for any funds (I did not send
anything), I did send 3 photos of myself and one of my children, and
as a result, with technology available, the criminals involved in this
could use our picture to scam women, in reverse of what is happening
to us now. I understand that once we get a jpeg. image, we want
to return the favor, but we do have to be careful of our personal
security. Do not forget, with you home address, name, telephone
number, where you work, credit can be obtained on your name. I
would even watch your telephone bills for several weeks, to insure
that no 3rd party calls have been charged to you. Good Luck,

On the end of June ('01), she wrote me first one Lovecity.com. I was scammed before on an unrelated issue a few yrs ago
and I was concerned about her, too. After a bit of research, especially at this site, I found out a red
flag was non-specific answering of my questions. Also, seemed a bit too good
to be true. But, was sealed the deal was this: I saw the same letters on the
scamming list by the name of Elena Karaseva, Magadan, Russia. So, I'm not sending her any money. End of story. Thanks for your help.
I can't prove it, but I wouldn't be surprised if "she" isn't even a she, but a company operating in
Magadan.

typing a letter by operator, receiving, sending, printing. About it I would like to tell you that for
sending one letter to you I should pay 1.5 dollars but for receive a letter
from you I should pay 0.5 dollars. That is why I can not talk to you very
often, but if you pay for our correspondence to the LoneSome center through
