I would like to thank you for this site. You have saved me from becoming a victim of an attempted scam. Two Russian women answered my ad placed on one and only web site. I had not even considered a Russian for a date. After about 3 weeks of daily correspondence they both were sure I was the man for them and suggested to come to see me in person. They asked for money for the visa. In looking for information on visas, I came across your site. Once I read your page on scams I realized my situation had all "symptoms" and that I was about to become a victim. You have saved me a few hundred bucks. At the same time, after reading your site, I am now considering what I would never have done before - dating a real Russian woman. Thanks again.

Smart as well as generous

I am struck by the sheer volume of attractive and not so attractive women from 18 to death who are apparently ready, willing and able to leave their home country and immigrate to the US as a fiancé or bride of an American. I am well aware of the economic and political climate that motivates these women in such disparate places as Ukraine, Albania, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, China, Mexico and the Philippines.

I admit, the "dirty old man" that I am, it is certainly an attractive option to select a lady half my age to spend the last half of my life with. I could share my good fortune to be born in the USA and the rights and privileges that accompany my citizenship, for the pleasures of young, firm youthful flesh of economically disadvantaged and politically repressive third-world nations.

I harbor no allusions. It is a straight barter. My ability to import a wife to the land of opportunity and my financially improving the prospects of one who earns less in a year than I pay for television cable or cell-phone service for a Victoria Secret model for the two years (the time that it takes for her to establish her ongoing claim to remain in the US). Not a bad deal. I have been dumped by a wife and several girlfriends before and usually in less time than 2 years.

The problem is the parasitic scum who live off this intercontinental, intercultural skin-trade. I have traveled extensively and visited many of the communities that these girls and their "marriage agencies" call home. I have spoken with and exchange correspondence with some of these women seeking a new life in the new world.

If a doctor in the Ukraine earns $70 US a month and she does, why would she want me to spend a month and a half of her income on roses that if actually delivered by the service that is promoted by the marriage agency, will be dead before I get a thank you note.

One of the major reasons that Americans are richer and live better and are more generous than third world residents is that in addition to being more productive we are smarter than that.

In Eastern Europe flower stalls are as common as parking meters in America. For the $115 asked for 11 roses via the marriage agency flower shop, I can buy the entire inventory of three street side flower stalls or feed my new girlfriend and her mother, father and boyfriend for 3 months. Potatoes are 11 cents a pound, meat is $1.50/lb and vodka is $4 a quart.

If I were rich enough to pay $115 for $3 worth of roses, I could and would find my Victoria's Secret model at the nearest Hooters, Strip club or Rave.

These women do exist and they do want to come to America, even at the cost of spending years or the rest of their lives with the likes of you or me in exchange for a little kindness to them and their children. Too bad there isn't a real mechanism for making contact with them and nourishing a real relationship.

If an account could be established with a reputable Internet cafe where the girls could have access to the Internet without being beholding to and controlled by an agency and if generous and sometimes gullible men could actually send money for food and clothes and if one could risk the price of a round-trip ticket from their God-forsaken, rip-off town to a safe, reasonably priced city, this youth for financial and political security barter could actually work.

I would think that a Ukrainian girl would actually prefer a weekend in Spain to my visit to Minsk. Maybe I'm wrong.

Sveta Kalitina

My name is Michael George and I live in the United States and around the first part of September I received an Email to my personal add on Yahoo personals from Sveta Kalitina. I started out as just someone to Email with and as it progressed next thing I did (Stupid Me) was first sent her money for her Visa and Passport at the tune of $350.00. I was scepticale and searched the Embassy Sites to see if information she told me was correct it seemed to check out. After sending the money Western Union I waited for about three days and got a reply thanking me and lots of sweet talk. Well the next thing that comes up for money is Plane Fair Which I had told her in several Emails I could take care of here as long as she had the Visa and Passport in Order. Well this didn't seem to be the way it was supposed to be handled which I really wasn't sure why, but Russia is much different than the United States so I thought everything must be taken care of in Russia so with alot of thinking and searching the Internet "not enough apparently" I sent more money in the amount of $500.00 for Plane fair. I am so very ashamed of myself you cannot believe. Ok my Third and still cant believe I let myself do this but I did I sent another $360.00 for Life Insurance. Elena I referenced your site many times during this and I was convinced she was not a Scammer. I am going to include some photos I have of her because the ones that Patrick sent are not the same ones I received. I really thought she was Sincere. I also have every one of her letters if you would like me to I will forward them to you please Email me back if so. Your Site is Awesome but stubborn me wouldn't accept the real fact of being scammed. Thank You, Michael George (California USA)

Svetlana Shendakova

Hello, My name is Gilles, I'm 30 years old french guy, single, working as project manager in a software company in Paris, France.

As I read the different published stories, I noticed the one concerning "Tatyana Repina/Anna Grushina" published by Harald. I was really surprised how similar was the content of the e-mails he received and the ones Svetlana Shendakova sent to me. She has a profile on http://cherchez.ru ID Number: 11697 There are 2 different e-mail addresses : shen222@hotbox.ru and svetic11@fromru.com   This is exactly the same story, except that I stopped writing her as soon as I received the request for the money (300 dollars) she needed for a visa. One thing attracted my attention : every time I asked personal questions, she didn't answer, and the fact that she asked for money was clear for me : it was a scam!!! I made a test and decide not to answer to see what will happen... and I didn't receive any other message since 29-Oct-2002 ! ;) Below is the last message she sent with the address required for the money, and some pictures of the "lady"... Hope this helps ;) Gilles Fournel

Hello my love Gilles!!!! Thank you so much for your nice letter! Well, I looked for visa one else and to me it is necessary to pay 55 dollars for the visa and 30 dollars registration and more it is necessary to pass inspection in hospital X-ray and it to cost 137 dollars and more and more registration of the documents, foreign passport, i.e. 396 dollars should suffice me. You understand? I went to embassy and at me was 50 dollars and I start registration the visa, it is necessary to pay for it, I have told, that I have 50 dollars and they have told well, give 50 dollars. And me have started registration. I so have understood that for the visa of this money will suffice, because to me so have told. But today I went there and to me have told, that to me gave the visa that it to finish registration urgently it is necessary to bring all those documents, i.e. medical and other. I have told, and it is possible later in some days, because I do not have not enough money to receive all these documents, at me at once have shouted, have scolded and have told, that for you then have begun to make the visa if you do not have not enough money, but I speak, that the visa costs 45 dollars and registration a little more, but to me have not explained at once to receive the visa, is necessary that were applied all necessary documents, I has certainly apologized, and has told, that I shall bring soon, one of these days. To me have told, that they may wait about 5 days and if I shall not bring the necessary documents they will stop to make the visa to me. And it is even worse, that if I not shall have time, to me have told that may not make to me the visa more, they will take offence at me, for my acts. But I promised, that I shall make all correctly and to me have believed. My life has very much changed, after I have learned(found out) you. I asked the help mum, but she(it) has answered me, that has no such money and may not help me. Then I to go today to bank and to try to take the loan, to pay the visa. It has turned out to take the loan from me, but only 50 $, more I can not allow myself. Now I have 100 more $ for my visa. And full cost of the visa of 396 dollars. Me does not suffice now 300 $ to pay the visa. Therefore I very much ask you, try to borrow from somebody money if you now do not have it, at the friends for example. Because to me now in such situation the help nobody may, I searched already, but not any successes. Therefore I hope only for you, you one to me may the help. Because I believe in you, and in both of us, that all at us will be Ok! And I hope, that all will be good. I know it. I ask you to send this money to me as soon as possible. Please send to me 300 dollars in these 5 days. Ok? It's very important. I wait! I want to tell that the money better to send by the bank system called Western Union. This system is very reliable also transferring money is carried out during 15 minutes. By the way you must send the money on my passport data. Here is my data: Svetlana Shendakova, RUSSIA, Samara, Lenin Street 27, apartment 140 . After you will send money you in bank will tell ten figures (MTCN, control number) and do not forget to write your full address and full name which you will fill at sending money and should inform me it. I wait your answer as soon as possible. Please, help me. I know, that you good man and you correctly all understood. I wait you. See you soon. Your forever Sveta!
