S/he contacted me
through beliefnet’s soulmatch website (profile since removed by
spamming filters for excessive messages sent), fell in love in a
couple of weeks and told me she wanted to come and see me. S/he told
me s/he needed $600 for tourist visa, medical exams, etc. and this
could all be done in 10-15 days.
I told him/her that if
we were going to meet I need to hear “her” voice on the phone. She
called me expressing great love and could not stay on the phone
because it was too expensive; and that she did not have phone where I
might call her back.
I then informed
him/her that I had recently hear of scams involving Russian women
requesting money, that s/he would not be able to enter the United
States on a tourist visa, that I would not send a large sum of money
to someone I have never met, and any airline tickets will be purchased
and only refundable to me. S/he assured me that s/he was not a scammer
or only interested in me for US citizenship.
We decided to meet in
Moscow for a couple of days and then to her city. After I purchased my
passport and informed her I could be there is 15 days she requested I
send her $550 via Western Union for travel arrangements to Moscow,
phone, and a new jacket to look beautiful for me. I reiterated and
strengthened my previous statement that I absolutely would not send
any money to him/her for any reason until after we have met in
person.
During this time I
contact him/her from a another e-mail address, from another computer,
and with some other guy’s picture posing as someone else (she had
just told me she needs to look no further, that I’m the one for her,
etc, etc). S/he replied to this phony e-mail, but not the one where I
told him/her I wouldn’t send money. And what do you know; the exact
same e-mail response and picture given to me (only the name was
changes in 1 place of course).
